Connor's Priorities
Connor Traut is a fourth-generation Orange County resident with a long-established track record of responsible and effective public service. Connor is running for Supervisor to use his experience to help our neighborhoods thrive. As Supervisor, he’ll fight for:
HOUSING FOR FAMILIES
Housing costs keep rising. Young families are being forced to leave their own communities to afford to buy a home, while others are pushed into housing insecurity or homelessness. Connor will work to clear away obstacles and cut red tape to build housing that Orange County families can afford. He’ll partner with local governments and nonprofits to ensure seniors, working families, and vulnerable residents can stay housed. At the same time, Connor will make sure that tax dollars spent on housing for homeless residents are spent responsibly on services that make an impact, not on bureaucracy.
A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
Climate change is already affecting Orange County families through higher temperatures, drought, and worsening wildfires. As a Mayor and Councilmember, Connor helped Buena Park become the first city in Orange County transition to 100% renewable energy, and he helped lower energy bills for consumers with the O.C. Power Authority. On the Board of Supervisors, Connor will fight for renewable energy, water conservation, clean air and water pollution, and better regional climate planning. He will push for smart investments that reduce emissions, protect neighborhoods, and improve affordability.
SUPPORT FOR SENIORS
We have a responsibility to care for those who spent their lives caring for us. Orange County’s senior population is growing, and many older adults face rising costs and limited mobility. Connor will expand aging-in-place programs, invest in county medical services, improve access to transportation, and increase funding for senior centers. Connor understands that quality care starts with caregivers; that’s why he’ll work to improve services and financial assistance for in-home care.
ABUNDANT PARKS AND OPEN SPACE
Connor is committed to ensuring that every child has a safe place to play and our communities have healthy spaces to exercise. As a Councilmember and Mayor, Connor successfully built three new parks, remodeled four existing city parks, and expanded after school programs. As Supervisor, he’ll work to preserve natural areas, expand park access, and maintain safe recreational spaces for families. He supports investment in trails, green spaces, and community facilities. Outdoor spaces should be welcoming and accessible to all residents. Protecting these areas is essential for public health and our quality of life.
SAFE STREETS AND NEIGHBORHOODS
Every family deserves to feel safe in their home and community, and Connor has a track record of delivering meaningful improvements in public safety. He supported hiring more police personnel, enhancing enforcement against illegal street racing, and installing safety technologies that track stolen vehicles and deter crime. As Supervisor, Connor will ensure fast emergency response times, and invest in smart, community-centered strategies that reduce crime and protect residents.
STRONG SMALL BUSINESSES
Connor is a small business owner who understands the challenges that Orange County businesses face. Connor will work to reduce barriers to expansion and hiring, support local entrepreneurs, invest in infrastructure, support job training, and expand programs that help small businesses grow. As a local Mayor and Councilmember, Connor has streamlined its permitting, expanded Chamber of Commerce partnerships, revitalized storefronts, and attracted good local jobs. Connor has the experience to help local businesses expand and thrive.
JOBS THAT WORK FOR WORKERS
Connor knows that a strong middle class is the foundation of Orange County’s long-term prosperity. On the City Council, he approved local hire agreements for public works projects, expanded job fairs and workforce development programs, and protected workers by writing new laws to combat wage theft. On the Board of Supervisors, Connor will push for policies that create sustainable, high-quality jobs with fair wages and strong workplace protections. He will continue advocating for apprenticeships, training programs, and economic development strategies that lift working families and strengthen the regional workforce.
